The First Computer Mouse #History #Invention #FirstComputerMouse #DouglasEngelbart
Can you imagine what the first computer mouse looks like? The computer mouse was invented and developed by Douglas Engelbart together with the assistance of Bill English, during the 1960's and was patented on November 17, 1970. Read more here: First Computer Mouse
Though it was very different then compared with the computer mouse of today, the concept greatly improved the efficiency of computing.
THE FIRST COMPUTER MOUSE
As you can see, the first computer mouse was made of wood, much larger of today's mouse, rectangular in size and had a red small button at the top right corner.
The prototype mouse invented at the Stanford Research Institute. The computer mouse was rolled on two sharp wheels facing 90 degrees from each other.
WHY CALLED A MOUSE?
From the one who invented it, the device reminded him of a rodent mouse, with a squiggly wire (cord) coming out at the end. It is more easier to remember rather than say X-Y Position Indicator for a Display System (the computer mouse named should be), but the name "MOUSE" gained popularity and was stuck in the mind of the people.
WHAT IS A COMPUTER MOUSE?
It is considered an input device, with a click of a button, the mouse will sends information to the computer. It is also considered as an interesting device that offers alternative way of using computer beside a keyboard.
Today, there are many types of a computer mouse and how they work make it a WIRELESS MOUSE, OPTICAL MOUSE, GSTICK MOUSE, TRACKBALL MOUSE, MECHANICAL MOUSE etc., but what matter is that without the invention of Mr. Douglas Engelbart we don't have these all.
Watch this video and see how the Mouse changed lives.
