The London 2012 Games are officially under way after a spectacular opening ceremony at the Olympic Stadium directed by Danny Boyle. Legions of performers put on a dazzling pageant celebrating all things British – from the industrial revolution to the NHS, Mr Bean and James Bond leaping from a helicopter with the Queen.
